USNC-URSI Membership (Free)
USNC-URSI Membership Overview
Individuals can become members of one or more of the ten USNC-URSI Commissions. There is no
cost to becoming a member and there are no dues. The benefits of becoming a member include a
discounted registration fee for attending the annual National Radio Science Meeting,
eligibility to serve in leadership positions, and
notifications of USNC-URSI activities and
opportunities.
These Membership Guidelines explain how an individual may become a
member
of these USNC-URSI Commissions. If you have interest in joining one or more of these
Commissions, please complete this application, and email it to the chairs of the commission to which you are applying.
New members are typically elected during Commission Business meetings held in
conjunction with the NRSM or NARSM.
Early Career Membership
In particular, USNC-URSI actively encourages students and those who are in the early stages of their careers (within 10 years of their last degree) to apply for an early career membership. Early Career Members must only have coauthored one USNC-URSI or URSI presentation, and they must have attended one USNC-URSI symposium. Otherwise, early career members must reside in the U.S., however, no citizenship or permanent residency is required.
International Membership Options
Lastly, separately from USNC-URSI, international URSI also offers an individual membership, which you can explore here.
Note that membership in USNC-URSI is limited to those appointed by the National Academies of Science, Engineering, and Medicine (NASEM), based on recommendations that result from voting by USNC-URSI Commissions.
Additional details can be found in the USNC-URSI Constitution.
