Overview

As a member country of the International Union of Radio Science (URSI), the U.S. has a National Committee (the United States National Committee for URSI, or USNC-URSI). This committee is appointed by the National Academy of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine (NASEM). USNC-URSI is also one of 24 scientific unions reporting to the Board on International Scientific Organizations (BISO).

USNC-URSI is the only U.S. organization that represents applied electromagnetics. It coordinates studies, research, applications, scientific exchange, and communication in all fields of radio science ranging from telecommunications to radio astronomy and medicine. This work of USNC-URSI is organized into ten scientific commissions:

Annual National Radio Science Meeting (NRSM)

Each January, USNC-URSI organizes a National Radio Science Meeting (NRSM) held in Boulder, CO. The NRSM is one of the few conferences that fosters and promotes works in progress. Additionally, students are provided extensive support by USNC-URSI during the NRSM in the form of travel support, free registration, a mentoring luncheon event, a friendly atmosphere, etc.

We hope you enjoy exploring the information, videos, and archival material that is included on this website. We also hope that you will consider supporting and becoming a member of USNC-URSI, Get Involved and Stay Connected.
